Rev’d Dave Clark  -Vicar of the Benefice of Upper Wensleydale

Rev Dave spent 32 years working as a secondary school teacher in West Yorkshire, specialising in music and drama. He had several posts as head of department and head of faculty before setting up a small business offering INSET to staff and students whilst studying for a Masters, working as a lecturer for the Open University and heading up the music department training for the Leeds SCITT, a school centred teacher training initiative.

Dave met his wife Sarah at Bretton Hall College, married in 1983, and then set up home in Normanton, West Yorkshire, where they became members of the congregation, worship and lay leadership team at  ‘All Saints’ Parish church.

After having been recommended for training by the Bishop’s panel, Dave began his studies part time with the Yorkshire Ministry Course, based in Mirfield.

His curacy was served with Rev Felicity Lawson at St Peter’s church Gildersome and St Paul’s church Drighlington, before arriving in Upper Wensleydale in 2016. With a lifelong passion for the Dales, Dave describes his posting as ‘great blessing and a great privilege’.

Sarah and Dave love spending as much time as they can with their daughter and two sons, who are all married and enjoying life with their own children.
