Primary School Links

We are fortunate to have strong and friendly relationships with our local primary schools in Hawes, Bainbridge, Askrigg and West Burton – the last three making up the BAWB Federation.

We visit all of the schools on a regular weekly basis, were we lead the children in singing, take assemblies, perform mock weddings and baptisms with the children and host visits to the church buildings. The major festivals are marked and celebrated on all the sites including Christingle services in Hawes and Askrigg.

Back to School message from Sarah and Dave

The distinctive Christian vision for Bainbridge and West Burton schools has been developed through a specially written song by Sarah Clark and is wrapped in the story of the Good Samaritan and the words of Jesus from Matthew’s gospel:

‘Love the lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbour as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37-39

‘God bless me when I’m sleeping,

God bless me when I play,

God bless me here and everywhere,

God bless me night and day.’

On the first Sunday of the month, St Margaret’s in Hawes hosts ‘The Gathering’, a service which creates the opportunity for the church in the upper dale to gather together. It’s an all age event in which we meet together at the start of the service and then provision for our younger members is made in ‘Active8’ in the National School Hall on the south side of the main church building before re-joining everyone in St Margaret’s.
